Job Title: Controller Location: Columbus, IN  Overview The Controller is responsible for a variety of accounting functions in financial reporting, cash management, hob costing, fixed assets/depreciation, taxes, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Essential Job Skills & Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years accounting experience required. Demonstrated experience with both detailed accounting and strategic responsibilities is required. Thorough knowledge of accounting and accounting-related functions, including taxes, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, financial reports, job costing, etc. Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, State and local requirements. Ability to effectively manage accounting administrative staff. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be proficient with Viewpoint Construction software. Track hand-written checks and balance disbursements journal monthly. Job Cost Monitor work in process and completed job information for Contract Value, Estimated Costs, Estimated Gross Profit and Change Orders. Keep schedules for financial and audit purposes. Participate in Job Cost Review meetings with Project Managers and General Superintendents, regarding job progress. Maintain open and closed job transaction registers for all jobs. Prepare closed job schedule as jobs are closed. Reconcile Job Costs to General Ledger. Keep Change Order worksheet showing contract c/o’s and job cost c/o’s. Make Job Cost adjusting entries as needed. Overview of files for Contracts, Subcontracts, and other job areas. Fixed Asset/Depreciation Maintain Fixed Asset schedules and records. Must be able to review plan quantities, independently complete quantity take-offs, source suppliers and subcontractors, meet DBE/MBE/WBE requirements, build preliminary schedules, strategize on construction means and methods, suggest equipment selection in the pursuit of both plans and specification and design-build project pursuits. Essential Job Skills & Qualifications Previous managerial and supervisory experience in the construction industry. Demonstrate good computer skills. Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, construction or project management software is preferred.
